Artist Statement

Growing up in the Bronx, surrounded by hip-hop’s beats and graffiti’s bold energy, I found my artistic voice at the crossroads of rhythm, structure, and expression. My style, which I call Hip Hop Cubism, blends the raw, improvisational spirit of graffiti with the geometric abstraction and multiple perspectives of Cubism. It’s a fusion where classical techniques meet urban lines, where the fragmented forms of Picasso and Braque collide with the vibrant energy of modern street art, creating something entirely new.

At its core, my work explores the intersections—between tradition and innovation, the organic and the man-made, and the natural and technological worlds. I’m drawn to the way shapes from nature—curves, angles, and textures—can be juxtaposed with the hard lines of urban environments and the sleek precision of modern technology. Through layered shapes, dynamic textures, and bold colors, I aim to reflect the duality of life today: the organic forms of a tree or a human hand reimagined alongside the rigid grid of cityscapes and the glowing screens of our digital age.

Each piece I create is a conversation between past and present, a collision of classical and urban elements. Inspired by the Cubist masters, I reinterpret their focus on fragmented perspectives, using the language of graffiti and hip-hop to tell stories about identity, movement, and culture. My work invites viewers to step into this dialogue, to consider how tradition shapes innovation and how the organic and technological worlds merge in unexpected ways.

With Hip Hop Cubism, I aim to challenge perceptions and bridge worlds—where the fluid forms of nature meet the hard edges of the man-made, and where the timeless artistry of Cubism is reimagined through the energy of the streets. It’s my way of creating a new space in art, one that reflects the complexity and beauty of the world we live in today.
